Evening Weddings - A Thing of the Past

Imagine your day starts bright and early on a Sunday, but what makes this day different is that it’s your wedding day. You wake up hungry, but know that won’t be a problem because you will be enjoying brunch in a few hours. After your gorgeous ceremony either inside or outside, you and your guests indulge in bloody mary and mimosa bars with other specialty drinks. The food is covered in bacon and omelet stations line the table. Your wedding was early enough where you have the rest of the day to celebrate with friends and loved ones. At 4 PM your honeymoon cruise leaves out of the Port of Galveston, just in time for you to spend the evening with your new wife or husband watching the dolphins jump and sun drift across the sky.

More and more these days, people are hosting their wedding in the morning rather than evening. Brunch weddings are becoming a trend especially because couples had to reschedule their wedding due to the pandemic. When it comes to finding a wedding date, most venues are not booked in the morning. For those looking for a budget-friendly wedding, brunch is the way to go. Breakfast menu items are typically less expensive than dinner items. Not to mention, you won’t need a full open bar. Traditional cocktails will cost more than breakfast drinks such as mimosas and coffee. Brunch weddings tend to be more relaxed, meaning decorations can be scaled down to fit the time of day. When it comes to children, brunch weddings don’t usually conflict with nap-time or bedtime so these types of weddings are kid-friendly.

Having a wedding in the morning is appealing to some because they can draw out the reception. Morning weddings give you more time to celebrate and have the evening to yourself to relax. It is suggested you start getting ready at 6 AM (or earlier) in order to have a 10 AM ceremony. After that, your celebration can go for as long as you want (or as long as you have your DJ). It is also a good idea to have other forms of entertainment such as lawn games, a photo booth or a sketch artist because some guests may not be up to taking the dance floor right away.
